OM Civil puts community first

Whether it’s through the projects we undertake, the people we partner with, or the initiatives we support, we’re constantly striving to uplift our home of South-East Queensland.

We grew our business from humble origins on the Gold Coast, so it brings our team joy to help this region flourish via environmentally-conscious developments and ongoing community support.

Here are just some of the ways in which OM Civil are giving back.

New Local Housing

A significant proportion of the projects completed by our experts over the last 12 months involved development of residential estates. As well as providing much needed housing for thousands of new arrivals and long-time Queenslanders, these helped invigorate their surrounding environments with fresh green spaces and infrastructure.

Projects of note include an 81-lot subdivision in the burgeoning Logan growth corridora 37-lot rural residential development in the picturesque Gold Coast hinterlandand a 140-lot family-haven in Coomera.

Job creation

“The success of our company is due to the strength of our team. Our people grow and develop with the business, not for the business.”

With expanding demand for our civil construction services comes the need to expand our team. We’ve recently onboarded a raft of local construction specialists and engineers in order to deliver our roster of exciting projects as efficiently as possible. We look forward to welcoming even more talented Gold Coast professionals into our team in the future.

Mental health Initiatives

Promoting Strong Mental Health With ‘MATES In Construction’

OM Civil has had the pleasure of welcoming Phil Hortz on-site, where he gave a presentation to our team about mental health. Phil is a support worker at MATES in Construction – a charity established in 2008 to reduce the level of suicide among Australian construction workers.

Those in the industry, particularly young people, are up to 2.38 times more likely to take their own life than the average Australian man. By encouraging dialogue between workers, providing advice on how to help others through difficult times, and offering training and support programs, MATES are actively helping to reduce suicide.

Following this initial session, eight of our staff  undertook an additional program with MATES in Construction called Connector Training. This equips people on-site with the tools to help others in a crisis, while at the same time connecting them to professional help. One such Connector is OM Civil Truck Driver Kev, who you can see in the video below.

OM Civil Proudly Support

Movember

Movember is an Australian-bred institution that needs little introduction. To help them raise the awareness and resources needed to improve men’s health, several of our mo-bros sport a yearly moustache.

VINNIES CEO SLEEPOUT

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a one-night event held on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year. Hundreds of CEO’s, business owners as well as community and government leaders sleep outdoors to support the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness.

Livin

We’re honourd to help fund Gold Coast charity Livin’s mission to provide ongoing mental health education across the country.

Polished Man

Last year several of our on-site and in-office personnel did something a little out of their comfort zone – paint their nails a bright shade of blue.

It was all in support of Polished Man, an organisation dedicated to supporting women and children affected by violence.

As well as sparking conversation, our team contributed money and raised funds for this worthy cause.

Storm Brothers Football Club

OM Civil recognise the importance of grassroots sports in building a sense of belonging amongst kids, which is why we’ve sponsored the local Oztag team The Storm Brothers.

Mudgeeraba Redbacks

Along with subdivisions and infrastructure upgrades, one of OM Civil’s favorite interests is footy. As of the 2023 season OM Civil are an official sponsor of the Mudgeeraba Redbacks. This fast-growing club has produced the likes of Darius Boyd, so don’t be surprised if you see one of these talented players in maroon one day.

Bethania Rams Soccer Team

We pride ourselves on supporting our community both where we live and where we work.

So when one of our employees explained that their local soccer team needed our support we were more than happy to get involved.

Burleigh Heads Surf Life Saving Club

We’re lucky to live and work on one of the most amazing coastlines Australia has to offer, so it’s only natural that we support those who keep our beaches safe. In 2023 we became an official sponsor of the Burleigh Heads Surf Life Saving Club’s Nippers program.

Gold Coast Baseball Little Leagues National Team

OM Civil was happy to assist with getting the Little League team to the Nationals recently!

Well done to the Gold Coast for bouncing back with an epic 10-9 walk-off win to finish the Nationals tournament.
