This 300m road upgrade of Sickle Avenue was a complex project that was constructed to an extremely tight and immovable program due to the commonwealth games baton relay scheduled to utilise the road on the 4th April 2018. The project involved numerous diversions and upgrades to a number of live utilities in the road corridor namely Telstra, TPG, UECOMM, OPTUS, NBN, Energex and Gold Coast Water & sewer. Sickle avenue is an extremely tight road corridor and to construct the works safely, numerous traffic management stages were utilised with temporary signaling, lighting, side track construction to enable the service works and road construction to be completed.
